A study recently conducted by the German Institute of Brain Research revealed the reasons and symptoms of migraines, as well as the methods for alleviating the pain it causes. Migraines represent a medical condition characterized by severe headaches (usually on one side of the head) and accompanying symptoms, which can vary depending on the specific case.
According to this new research, a migraine is a headache that occurs on one side of the head, often accompanied by headache, nausea, sensitivity to light and noise. Key signs of a migraine, as outlined in the study, may also include more serious problems, such as vision disturbances (like flashes or bright colors), speech impairments (for example, the inability to find words), motor and sensory disorders (for instance, numbness in the cheeks and hands), as well as cognitive impairments.
The study noted that although migraines are unavoidable, suffering can be alleviated with medication such as migraine-specific treatments and preventive measures, as well as relaxation techniques, avoiding irritants such as bright light and noise. According to the study, if severe symptoms appear, it is essential to consult a doctor for proper treatment and to select appropriate medications.
