German Experts Offer Advice on Controlling Appetite

Due to their high calorie content, it is best not to eat more than a handful and to reduce sweet snacks. Conversely, sweet snacks like chocolate, cookies, and potato chips should be avoided as much as possible; when consumed, they cause blood sugar levels to spike quickly and then drop just as fast, leading to intense cravings for more food. This does not mean that one should completely deprive themselves of sweets and fatty foods; on the contrary, such restrictions can increase the desire to consume them. Experts from Germany's Federal Nutrition Center provided important tips to help avoid severe hunger pangs. Foremost among them is ensuring you eat three balanced, satisfying main meals daily and not skipping any. These meals should include whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and legumes, as these ingredients help maintain stable blood sugar levels for longer. It is also useful to have healthy snacks, such as low-fat natural yogurt with fresh fruit, raw vegetable sticks with a dip made from low-fat cottage cheese and herbs, and unsalted nuts. The optimal solution is to consume small amounts from time to time, at most a handful, as part of your diet.
