The Ministry of Finance of Germany has presented a draft document, in conjunction with which it is planned to introduce a new carbon tax. According to information from this document, it is proposed that the carbon tax will be calculated from 2023 and will bring the government up to 7 billion euros per year.
The introduction of the new carbon tax, within the framework of this initiative, also considers the possibility of reducing taxes on electricity for households and easing the financial burden for small and medium-sized companies.
It is important to note that these proposals are at the stage of discussions and are not yet official. The final decision on this issue will be made only after the adoption of the corresponding legislative proposals. As officials from the ministry point out, this measure is part of the strategy to combat climate change and promote ecological sustainability.
The deputy minister of finance of Germany stated: "We are facing a huge challenge to ensure conditions for the survival of future generations, and the introduction of a carbon tax is an important step in this direction."
