FC St. Pauli Leaves X Due to Hate Speech

FC St. Pauli, a Bundesliga team with 250,000 followers on the social media platform Twitter, has decided to leave the platform, accusing it of "inciting hate." The club has migrated to a new account on the social media platform BlueSky, where it has tripled its number of followers, thus avoiding, as they claim, the contamination of hate-filled discourse.

Among the celebrities who have decided to leave Twitter are Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis and actress, singer, and comedian Bethany Ann Midler, among others. This exodus of public figures stems from entrepreneur Elon Musk's proximity to politics, which has caused many users to leave the social media platform in search of less hostile environments.

FC St. Pauli's statement explained that their departure from Twitter is due to various situations that have displeased them since the platform was acquired by Elon Musk. The German club denounced the lack of control and penalties regarding insults and threats on the social media platform, which some consider freedom of expression.

The Hamburg team decided to move to BlueSky, a decision that has been reported internationally by media outlets such as The Guardian and The Indian Times. They invited their followers to join their new account on this platform, which they have communicated as their new social home after saying goodbye to Twitter.
