
Dubai Customs and the "Kuhne und Nagel KLU" University in Germany signed a joint memorandum of understanding at the university's headquarters in Hamburg. The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of Dubai Customs, Dr. Abdullah Bou-Snad, Dean of the Dubai College of Business at Dubai University, Professor Washeek Sahehem, and the President of "Kuhne und Nagel" University, Professor Andreas Kablau. This step aims to enhance academic cooperation and scientific research at the national level, with the goal of strengthening Dubai's position as a regional hub in trade and logistics services.
The memorandum includes enhancing cooperation in the fields of training, scientific research, and the development of specialized programs, while providing practical training opportunities for students and graduates in the scholarship program offered by Dubai Customs in collaboration with Dubai University. The agreement also addressed joint initiatives around logistics services and supply chain management and the use of artificial intelligence techniques in customs operations.
In his context, Dr. Abdullah Bou-Snad emphasized the importance of cooperation with KLU University to integrate technology into academic curricula to prepare a qualified generation for the future. With the signing of the memorandum, a number of students joined the scholarship program in various specialties for intensive practical training at KLU University. The experience included field visits to major German companies affiliated with logistics in the Port of Hamburg to understand the use of advanced technologies in improving operational efficiencies.
The Chairman of the Free Zone and Customs Authority, Sultan Ahmed Bin Selim, confirmed that the signing of the memorandum reflects the Dubai government's vision to enhance innovation and knowledge-based economy. He referred to the importance of partnership in qualifying personnel and keeping pace with global technologies to support Dubai's position as a hub for innovation and development.
