The German chancellery minister Olaf Scholz called on the opposition to support key legislation after losing the majority in parliament last week. He urged to prevent political polarization in Germany, analogous to that occurring in the United States.
The situation in the country was complicated after the right-wing coalition, consisting of democrats, greens, and liberals, resulted in the dismissal of finance minister Christian Lindner from the Liberal Party due to his opposing positions on budget and economic issues.
"There is no democracy without compromises," Scholz said in his speech before parliament.
