Benefits of Cycling for Heart Health

Cycling strengthens the heart and reduces high blood pressure. Regular biking helps burn calories, maintain a healthy weight, and protect against heart diseases.

Benefits of Cycling for Heart Health

Regular cycling not only helps strengthen muscles and improve physical fitness but also positively affects heart health. As noted by the German Cardiology Society, cycling helps strengthen the heart, reduce high blood pressure, and prevent heart diseases.

"Regular cycling improves blood composition and aids in the gradual introduction of dietary substances into a balanced diet," specialists explained. Additionally, during cycling, one can burn about 150-250 calories, which contributes to maintaining a healthy weight.

To achieve the best results, experts recommend cycling at least five times a week for 30 minutes each time (totalling no less than 150 minutes per week). However, for individuals with heart conditions, it is advised to consult a cardiologist before starting.

A cardiologist can conduct an ECG and determine the optimal load, as well as assess the effects of cardiac medications on heart function and blood vessels. Heart patients are also advised to cycle with a heart rate monitor to avoid excessive strain on the heart.

Regular cycling positively influences endurance, strengthens legs, aids in strengthening the core and knees. Thanks to the fact that the main load is placed on the saddle of the bicycle, the components of the thigh and pelvis remain protected.
