Measures of precaution, adopted to strengthen the immune system, help avoid colds, reported the Federal Center for Health in Germany. Colds are one of the most common health problems during the winter.
Specialists at the Center recommend the following tips for strengthening the immune system: consume foods rich in vitamin C, such as apples, mandarins, kiwis, guava, and sweet peppers; engage in regular sports and physical activity at least three times a week for at least half an hour; ensure adequate sleep; avoid smoking and alcohol; prevent psychological stress; and consume adequate amounts of fluids.
Additionally, to eliminate bacteria, it is necessary to wash hands thoroughly for 20-30 seconds with soap, paying attention to the intervals between fingers, after returning home, using the toilet, cleaning the nose, coughing, sneezing, and contact with sick individuals.
It is recommended to get vaccinated against the flu, especially for people at risk of serious consequences, such as elderly people, pregnant women, and those with chronic diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, respiratory issues, and kidneys.
