Journalist Victoria Zumalacárregui spoke about the new season of 'I'm Going to Eat the World,' a travel and cooking show that has been on the air for a decade. The new episodes, filmed in Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany, will premiere on El Gourmet on February 6th. Zumalacárregui explained the show's focus, which is to provide an authentic culinary portrait of each country by going beyond stereotypes. 'In Germany, for example, everyone thinks they only eat potatoes and pork, but we filmed during asparagus season and found a huge number of dishes made with green and white asparagus,' she shared. In Austria, in the Tyrol region, an elderly couple invited her to their home for dinner, where the main course was pancakes. 'It wasn't a dessert, a snack, or breakfast; it was the main course of the dinner,' she clarified. Zumalacárregui emphasized that the show's unique feature is its direct contact with local people who take the team to their favorite restaurants, markets, and even their homes. 'My job is not to cook, but to accompany those who are cooking,' she stated. She also advised traveling without prejudices to experience a country's culture fully. When asked about her favorite cuisines, she ranked Peruvian food second only to Spanish, praising its variety of ingredients and fusion with Chinese and Japanese traditions.
