Director and screenwriter Amir Fakhr al-Din, whose family roots from the Golan Heights in Syria were occupied, stated that his film "Yunon" was inspired by his personal experience in exile and longing for his homeland. The film features Lebanese actor and writer Georges Khabbaz, playing the role of an Arab writer in exile on the western island of Germany, and the film is part of a trilogy that started with the film "Chuzhoy" in 2021. "The experience of exile served as some catalyst for the entire trilogy... I told myself: I will explore the theme of homeland," said director Fakhr al-Din, who currently resides in Germany.

Recently, the director has turned to working on the concluding part of the trilogy with the film "Nostalgia." The film "Yunon" is one of 19 films competing for the prestigious Golden Bear at the festival, the winner of which will be announced tomorrow.
