The German government is assessing the implications of rising food prices against the backdrop of the Iran war. Deputy leader of the Social Democratic Party's parliamentary group, Ezra Limbacher, announced that the joint working group between the Christian Democratic Union and the Social Democratic Party will begin scrutinizing food costs, after recently focusing on the sharp increase in fuel prices. Limbacher told the German newspaper 'Rheinische Post' yesterday: 'Due to rising prices for fertilizers and transportation, there is a risk that food prices will also rise in the next phase.' He indicated that the working group will discuss 'measures to curb inflation' next week.
