«Where is my package?» — this question preoccupies many Germans greatly, as confirmed by Amazon's head in Germany, Rocco Brüninger. Brüninger said in an interview with the German newspaper «Süddeutsche Zeitung»: «What Germans love to do very often, more than all other Europeans, is to check the status of their deliveries, like finding out how far the delivery person is from them. Perhaps Germans are obsessed with control». Brüninger also revealed some gifts he believes will be under many Christmas trees this year, saying: «If we take Black Friday sales as a measure, we can expect Wi-Fi boosters, air fryers, or even robotic vacuum cleaners». Brüninger rejected accusations that Amazon is responsible for the decline in city centers, explaining that e-commerce represents only 13.4% of total retail trade, according to official figures from trade associations. He added: «In cities where Amazon is particularly strong, the condition of city centers is also good».
