The German environmentalists and nature defenders "Bund" noted that in Germany, the high level of depletion of natural resources and emissions is caused by several factors, including high energy consumption, individual automobile transport, and the application of industrial technologies in animal husbandry. According to calculations by the organization "Global Footprint Network" (Global Network for Ecological Footprint), starting from yesterday, Germany has exhausted all natural resources that should have been sufficient for the entire current year, which constitutes "Earth Overshoot Day" that occurred in the country on May 3 of this year.
The organization explained that if the population of the Earth continues to consume natural resources and emissions of greenhouse gas at the rate established in Germany, then the annual biological capacity of the planet will be depleted by the first third of the year.
They outlined a series of requirements, including adopting a law on resource protection to prevent their excessive use and pollution.
