Impact of Rising Rents on Skilled Workers in Germany

A recent study showed that the growth of rental prices in large German cities is becoming a barrier for companies seeking qualified workers. According to this study conducted by the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, many Germans believe that rising housing costs create significant burdens for living in large cities, and even as many as a third of them consider changing jobs due to the rise in rental prices. Even fewer Germans have already changed jobs due to rising rental prices in large cities. For the research, the opinions of 4,000 people working in 12 large cities were surveyed.

The survey showed that the majority of Germans evaluate life in a big city as pleasant due to the provided opportunities for shopping, cultural events, and employment, but at the same time, a third of survey participants expressed dissatisfaction with rental costs.
