Porsche and Piech Families Consider Reducing Volkswagen Stake

The shareholders of the Porsche and Piech families are considering options to reduce their voting stake in the Volkswagen company, reports the newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

According to the publication, there is a discussion about the possibility of reallocating shares to lessen control over Volkswagen. Currently, the Porsche and Piech families hold rights to over 50% of the voting shares in the total assembly of Volkswagen shareholders.

"We are convinced that the distribution of voting shares between Porsche and Piech used to be closer to a more democratic corporate structure," noted representatives of the family in comments for the newspaper.

Representatives of Volkswagen declined to comment on this information.
