In January 2026, Elisa Carrillo Cabrera will take on the role of director of the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany, one of the most prestigious academies in the world for classical ballet dancers. Carrillo Cabrera, a renowned Mexican dancer, will succeed Tadeusz Matacz, who has led the school for more than 27 years.

Elisa Carrillo Cabrera, an accomplished dancer and recognized First Dancer, has an extensive background in the world of dance. Born in Mexico, she completed her training in ballet at the National School of Classical Dance of Mexico. She then joined the Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice, rising to the corps de ballet in the 2000/2001 season. In addition to her role at the John Cranko School, Carrillo Cabrera also serves as Co-Artistic Director of the National Dance Company of Mexico and is a member of the International Dance Council (CID) of UNESCO.

Under Tadeusz Matacz's leadership, the John Cranko School has solidified its international reputation, training outstanding dancers who have joined the most important companies in the world. Notable graduates include those who have reached the rank of Principal Dancer at the Stuttgart Ballet, such as Rocio Alemán, Anna Osadcenko, Agnes Su, among others.

In addition to Carrillo Cabrera, other successful professionals in the dance world, such as choreographers and dancers, have also trained at the John Cranko School, enriching the global artistic landscape with their talent and creativity.

Elisa Carrillo Cabrera, internationally recognized for her skill and elegance on stage, has been a key figure in organizing events such as the Elisa and Friends gala and the international dance festival Danzatlán, where she has presented world-class repertoires in an accessible manner to the public.
