Bayern Munich secured a dominant 8-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg to strengthen their lead in the German Bundesliga after the winter break. Michael Olise scored two goals, and the hosts also capitalized on two own goals. In the fifth minute, Luis Díaz made a low cross that Kilian Fischer turned into his own net. This was Wolfsburg's third consecutive own goal, a negative record in the Bundesliga. The visitors responded with a goal from Janan Beqinović, equalizing in the 15th minute. Díaz restored Bayern's lead in the 30th minute with a header from an Olise cross, scoring his ninth league goal of the season. Olise, providing his ninth assist of the campaign, became the league's top creator. He then added his eighth goal of the season to make it 4-1. Wolfsburg again conceded an own goal shortly after. Bayern, who hit the post via an Olise effort, added two more goals in 80 seconds through substitute Rafael Guerreiro and league top scorer Harry Kane. Olise, celebrating his 50th Bundesliga appearance, netted his second goal of the game in the 76th minute. Substitute Leon Goretzka sealed the win with a narrow-angle goal in the 88th minute, marking Bayern's largest victory over Wolfsburg in history.
