Terror Attack During Worker Protest Leaves 28 Injured in Munich

In the city of Munich, Germany, a driver ran over a group of union protesters, leaving at least 28 people injured, two of them critically, according to reports from local medical sources. The incident took place near the central train station, where around a thousand people were gathered for a protest organized by the Ver.di union, which demanded wage increases.

One of the protesters was reportedly shot by police officers and taken from the scene. Another witness who saw the events recounted their attempt to intervene upon seeing a person trapped under the car. Before the incident, security in the area was high, with thirty police officers present and smooth traffic.

The detained driver is a 24-year-old man of Afghan nationality, with a criminal record related to drug offenses and thefts, according to police sources and Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. Investigations are underway to clarify the facts, as a possible terrorist act is suspected.

Witnesses reported that the white vehicle deliberately advanced towards the protesters, while others mentioned the presence of two men in the car. Shots were heard during the chaos that ensued, but the police assured that the driver was detained at the scene and no longer posed a threat.

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder described the incident as a possible terrorist act and thanked the swift intervention of security forces. The area remains cordoned off while investigations continue to clarify the details of the incident.
