In the city of Köln, Germany, the justice system has begun an investigation regarding the German football star Lukas Podolski due to his wearing of the "red flag." According to German legislation, this symbol is associated with far-right groups and is prohibited.
According to the information from the media, Podolski was spotted during a shooting of a promotional video for a company holding this item in his hands. The footballer's lawyer claims that this was merely part of the costume attributes provided to him for the shoot.
"We understand the wave of emotions provoked by these photographs, however, Lukas absolutely distances himself from any far-right symbols," stated the athlete’s lawyer. "He himself has lived for many years in a multicultural environment, ideas of far-right movements are alien to him," he added.
