German Defense Minister Rejects U.S. Call for Military Support Against Iran

Berlin, Reuters — German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on Monday rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's call to provide military support in the war against Iran, and downplayed threats that such a stance by allies would harm NATO. In response to a question about Trump's warning that NATO would face 'very bad' consequences in the future if its members did not aid Washington, Pistorius said he ruled out the collapse of the alliance due to these disagreements. In Berlin, he said: 'What does Donald Trump expect one or two European frigates to do in the Strait of Hormuz that the powerful American fleet cannot do?' He added: 'This is not our war, we did not start it'.
