Merkel called on the Germans to unite in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Germany must "do everything that is in its power," said Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He noted that the situation with COVID-19 remains unpredictable and serious.
The upcoming winter presents the country with numerous challenges, especially in light of the Delta variant. According to Scholz, it is necessary to take all necessary measures to protect against a new wave of infections. "We cannot allow the situation to get out of control; we must act decisively and early," emphasized the Chancellor.
In the fight against the threat of new waves of infections, Scholz called for an increase in vaccination rates. Germany plans to activate a vaccination campaign and provide shots for everyone who wants one. "Vaccination is our key to overcoming the crisis," he pointed out.
"The situation is under control while we continue vaccination. But we need to be cautious," concluded Scholz.
