Official preliminary figures published yesterday indicated that German police recorded a 13% decrease in the number of illegal border crossings over three weeks following the start of permanent border inspections compared to the previous three weeks. According to federal police data, from September 16 to October 6, a total of 3,464 foreigners attempting to illegally enter the country without permission were noted, of which 2,073 were denied entry at the border. For the period from August 26 to September 15, 3,984 cases of illegal border crossings were registered, and 2,353 were refused overall.
A representative of the far-left party requested information in parliament regarding this matter. There was also a notable decrease in cases of illegal border crossing at the German-French border, where during the reporting period the number decreased from 766 to 567 cases.
