The leader of the 'Bundestag Die Linke' party, Sahra Wagenknecht, accused the ruling German coalition of passing a 'war budget' for 2026. Wagenknecht stated in an interview with the German press agency (dpa) that 'the 2026 budget bill, which is to be voted on in the Bundestag, shows the largest increase in military spending since 1945'. She confirmed that her party, which currently holds no seats in parliament, is seeking to 'stop the insane arms race and freeze military spending at the 2021 level', which would save the treasury 276 billion euros during the current legislative term.
