The German parliament has set a new record for the duration of its plenary sessions in the current legislative period. The session began at 9:00 AM two days ago and concluded at 1:42 AM today. The previous record was set last June, when the session ended at 12:29 AM. The session two days ago was prolonged after the right-wing populist faction of the 'Alternative for Germany' party questioned the legal quorum of the parliament. A quorum for the German Bundestag is considered complete when more than half of its 630 members are present.

A plenary session of the German Bundestag lasted over 16 hours, breaking the previous record. The delay was caused by the 'Alternative for Germany' faction's doubts about the quorum.
