A recent poll shows that most Germans favor a coalition government between the Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats. 52% hope for this alliance.


Majority of Germans Support Coalition Government

A recent study of public opinion showed that the majority of residents of Germany support the formation of a government coalition between the conservative Christian Democratic Union and the Social Democratic Party. According to data from a survey conducted by the Institute "Insa" for the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag", 52% of respondents hope for the formation of a federal government between these two parties, while 32% expressed opposing views. The remaining 16% were undecided.

As the survey indicated, 44% of respondents are confident that the alliance between the conservatives and the social democrats will govern better than the previous coalition between the social democrats, the Greens, and the Free Democrats. Meanwhile, 32% believe the situation will remain the same as it was under the previous government, while 15% think it will worsen.

38% of respondents believe that the leader of the Christian Democratic Union and the election winner, Friedrich Merz, will be a better chancellor compared to Olaf Scholz of the Social Democratic Party. At the same time, 27% of other respondents believe that his level will be the same as Scholz's, while 28% assume he will be worse.
