The starting point of the administration of the American president, Michael Richard Pens, during the opening of the Munich Conference on Security on Friday, stated that "freedom of speech is retreating" in Europe. In his address, Pens expressed concern about the threats looming over democracy and freedom worldwide.
"Freedom of speech is under pressure across all of Europe. In recent years, we have seen threats to the ideals of democracy, freedom of the press, and the rule of law due to threats from aggression, radicalism, and terrorism," Pens emphasized.
Pens also underscored the importance of transatlantic unity and urged NATO member countries to increase their military spending. He noted that joint efforts are necessary to contain the threats posed by Russia, China, and Islamist extremists.
"Decisions must be made strongly, and we must be strong," Pens reiterated.
