Minister Olaf Scholz responded to the greeting of Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and close friend of Donald Trump, at a meeting with the new president of the USA, offering a right-hand handshake for the greeting. During a meeting in Davos, Scholz warned Musk about the inadmissibility of supporting far-right positions, condemning his calls to endorse the German far-right party and the display of gestures that some construed as a Nazi salute. "We have freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany, and everyone has the right to express their opinion, even if they are a billionaire. But what we reject is support for extreme-right views," noted the German official in Davos. Some Democratic deputies and historians interpreted Musk's gesture as fascist or Nazi, while others provided a different interpretation.
