High-Profile Ceasefire Agreement in Middle East

After 15 months of conflict in the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas finally came into effect with nearly three hours delay, at 9:15 a.m. on a Sunday. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his concern for the well-being of the population in the region, urging work towards peaceful coexistence between a Palestinian state and the State of Israel.

In his statements, Scholz mentioned: "Their fate also concerns us. We should seize the current momentum to work towards ensuring peaceful coexistence between a Palestinian state and the State of Israel." The German chancellor emphasized the importance of urgent humanitarian aid for Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages while highlighting the suffering of the civilian population during the conflict.

Scholz's words came after the start of the ceasefire between the involved parties, where the guns finally fell silent after a prolonged period of clashes. Now, with the cessation of hostilities, the aim is to consolidate stability in the region and provide essential humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the affected population in Gaza.
