German car giant BMW plans to recall hundreds of thousands of its vehicles over the risk of starter motors catching fire, a company spokesperson told AFP.
"We are initiating a recall due to a potential issue with the starter motors, which could lead to them catching fire," the company stated.
The decision comes after several incidents of these components catching fire were reported. BMW clarified that the recalled vehicles do not pose an immediate safety threat, but it urges owners to visit official service centers as soon as possible for inspection and replacement of the faulty parts.
