Germans perceive daily interactions to have become ruder compared to the past, while only a few doubt their own politeness. A survey conducted by the polling institute 'YouGov' on behalf of the language learning platform 'Babel' revealed that 59% of participants believe that communication has become ruder than it was five years ago. Conversely, 85% of participants consider themselves to be polite people. Notable differences are evident among age groups: 65% of the baby boomer generation believe that manners have deteriorated, while only 39% of younger age groups share this view.
