As a result of a sudden fire, a fire station and equipment were destroyed in Stadtallendorf (Germany), with a social cost of around 24 million euros. According to reports from German publications, the fire started shortly after four in the morning in one of the transport vehicles parked in a garage. Flames rose to a height of more than ten meters above the roofs of the building.

The open transport hall, as well as other buildings this year, was completely destroyed. Due to the smoke, residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed. The fire service inspector of Schiver stated that for about 170 rescue service employees, this was an emotional experience: "For every member of the fire brigade, it’s a nightmare; no one wants to have to extinguish their own fire station."

The estimated total damage was assessed by the fire service inspector Schiverm to be between 20 and 24 million euros. The newspaper "Gardian" noted that the social building complex could have been saved thanks to the fire protection wall located between the garage with parked fire service vehicles and the social wing.

The Hessenschau newspaper noted that the station was the most modern in the entire region. Norbert Fischer, president of the fire association of Hesse, explained that the absence of fire alarm systems at the station caused surprise among German media. In response to the question of the necessity of such a system, he noted: "This is not considered mandatory."
