Bayer Leverkusen forward Víctor Boniface was involved in a serious traffic accident on Sunday, from which he emerged unharmed. Boniface expressed gratitude that it was not his time and shared images and videos of the accident on his social media. The photos showed his car wrecked at the front and with the roof caved in on a highway, as well as his left hand covered in blood.
In his posts, which he later deleted, Boniface wrote phrases like 'God is the greatest' and 'God has decided it was not my time.' According to the German media Bild, citing a close source, the footballer is doing well under the circumstances and only has minor injuries from the accident.
The forward scored a goal in the seventh matchday of the Bundesliga, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Bayer Leverkusen. The other goal was scored by Robert Andrich. Boniface scored in the 26th minute of the second half, securing the victory for the team managed by Xabi Alonso at the BayArena, placing them in fourth position in the table with 14 points.
