On Sunday evening, a burning meteorite struck a residential building in the Gols area of Koblenz, the police reported. No one was injured, and only material damage was recorded. The incident caused widespread concern and confusion. Many residents from the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and Baden-Württemberg shared photos and videos on social media. Witnesses reported seeing a 'bright glowing missile with a short fiery flash' or a 'ball of light in the sky'. While some speculated it might have been a rocket, a police spokesperson stated: 'There is no evidence of any involvement by security services'. They emphasized that no one was harmed and the damage was purely material. A small meteorite caused damage to roofs and houses in western Germany.
