According to a recent assessment from Germany, men are more likely than women to suffer from lung cancer, but more women are confirmed to have survived this disease. For the composition of this analysis, experts studied data on cancer cases affecting approximately 2,500 men and about 307,600 women from various regions of Germany, who were diagnosed with the disease between the beginning of January 2000 and the end of December 2018.

In Germany, the number of new lung cancer cases in 2020 reached 70,550 women and 740 men. Consequently, the lifetime risk of developing lung cancer for women during their lifetime is 13.2%, while for men this figure does not exceed 0.1%.
