Mexican skater Donovan Carrillo secured second place at the NRW Trophy in Dortmund, earning 194.01 points in the free skate. His performance highlights his qualification journey for the 2024 World Championships.

On the final competition day at the NRW Trophy, Mexican skater Donovan Carrillo had an outstanding performance in the international figure skating circuit. This competition takes place annually in Dortmund, Germany, starting on November 14 and culminating on November 17. Carrillo secured second place in the competition by scoring 194.01 points in his free routine, surpassing Noah Bodestein (SUI), who finished third with 177.53 points. This result is crucial in the qualification process for the 2025 World Figure Skating Championships in Boston, United States.

Other prominent Mexican athletes also participated in this sporting event, such as Andrea Astrain, Harlow Lynella Stanley, Ella Bucio, Mario Nava, and Elizabeth Quintero. The performance of these athletes has allowed Mexico to be positioned at the top of the competitions. Carrillo won the silver medal in figure skating, while Ella Bucio earned silver in the Parkour discipline. Meanwhile, Mario Nava and Elizabeth Quintero took first place in Aerobic Gymnastics.

Carrillo, along with fellow skater Andrea Astrain, who is considered a promising talent for national skating, demonstrated excellent levels at the NRW Trophy. The podium for this competition was composed of Lev Vinokur (Israel) in first place with 211.50 points, followed by Carrillo with 194.01 points and Bodestein (Switzerland) in third place with 177.53 points.

Donovan Carrillo's performance at the NRW Trophy is part of his experience in various figure skating competitions. At the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, Carrillo achieved his best score, surpassing his personal record. Additionally, he won a silver medal at the International Trophy in Scotland and again demonstrated his skill by obtaining silver at the NRW Trophy in Dortmund, thus securing a spot at the 2024 World Championships.

Throughout his career, Carrillo has participated in various sporting events such as the Four Continents Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2020, the Senior World Championships in 2018, as well as the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, where he placed 22nd. His participation in these competitions is an important step in his preparation for future sports challenges.
